The Technology team supports and builds the booking engine platform that drives FlightNetwork’s success and also supports the worldwide operations of the company.

Our team consists of Front End Engineering, Back Office Engineering, Search Engineering, Product Delivery, DevOps and IT. Team members are split between Toronto, Ahmedabad and Pune.

We are seeking an individual with exceptional technical leadership to evolve our Search platform. In this role you will report directly to the CTO and oversee all aspects of software delivery and infrastructure for our Air Search product.

Our Air Search API receives millions of requests daily. Speed, reliability and accuracy are critical for this API to deliver a world class customer service. While we’re proud of the technology that has got us to this point we recognize that to continue to grow we need to evolve all aspect of our platform. The right leader will have the experience to lead the team with through a vision of how to continue to scale up this central tool in our business.

Reporting into the Director, Engineering - Search are technical leads (2) and software developers (12).

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Architecture and delivery of our proprietary Search platform (Air Engine)
  • Reducing search times through caches and caching algorithms
  • Supporting 3rd party integrators of our API’s
  • Technical roadmap
  • All infrastructure and operations of the platform
  • Continued modernization of the technical stack
  • Project planning and delivery
  • Software architecture and planning
  • Capacity and resource planning (internal and external resources)
  • 24x7 operations of the FlightNetwork ecommerce systems
  • Building a world class engineering team in Toronto and India

About you:

  • 10+ years of technology management experience in various capacities including software development in ecommerce
  • Superior communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at different levels - executives, business leaders, technical experts, etc.
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with an ability to influence and negotiate
  • Experience working with offshore teams (e.g. India)
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Technical experience with software development (Perl, Java, PostgreSQL, Redis, etc.), AWS, Linux, Puppet/Ansible, monitoring (Nagios, Splunk, etc.), etc.
